Last night, I murdered a cake
The wine was high and encouraged the plastic knife
to slice open her snowy coat of sugar
and penetrate her chocolate body
The blood red strawberry jam spilled
while the candle flame died
A rose witnessed the entire process
but could do nothing
A crime of high sugar content
would follow with high calorie punishment
I couldn’t bear to destroy the evidence
So I cut her up, slices by slices
pieces by pieces I stored in the fridge
to be defrosted any time and be tasted again
I loved her
She wouldn’t let me
Hence I slaughtered her
Dear Police, please plead with the judge
to deliver the gravest punishment —
Let me finish her
all at once
