Root Canal

It’s not painful anymore
I am still a tooth
in the same orderly position
loyally chewing on the tasteless days

I am not a zombie, but
a tooth
Pain drilled me open, some metal penetrated
cleared my decayed nerves
The excruciating pain
left nothing
The hollowness measured
the depth filled, then crowned
for me to endure
the everlasting boredom

I love you
Still it echoes in the solid enamel
But I am lifeless
I will not feel
pain anymore
